Sinclar Group Forest Products remembers lost co-workers

APRIL 26, 2012 - PRINCE GEORGE - Sinclar Group Forest Products Ltd. is extremely saddened to confirm the deaths of two of their employees following the April 23, 2012 accident at their Lakeland Mills sawmill in Prince George, BC.

The company is also asking for support and respect in this important time of grieving for the families of the two employees.

"Words cannot express our sadness at the passing of these two members of the Sinclar Group family," said Greg Stewart, president of Sinclar Group Forest Products. "The thoughts of everyone at Sinclar Group Forest Products are with the families of Al and Glen today, and we want them to know we will stand by them and do whatever we can to help them deal with this tragic incident."

Alan Little, 43, was a sawmill production supervisor. He had 18 years experience with Lakeland Mills, a division of the Sinclar Group. Glen Roche, 46, was a large headrig operator. He would have celebrated his 29th anniversary with the company in June of this year.

"Al was wonderful human being who earned the respect of his co-workers over the years," said Stewart, adding that Little had been promoted to production supervisor two years ago. "He was a great supervisor, he had a special way of working with people, people responded well to him."

"Glen was a perfect example of what we mean when we talk about the Sinclar Group family," said Stewart. "He was just so full of energy, always wanting to outdo himself. He had a lot of friends at the mill and he was well-respected by everyone he worked with."

Sinclar Group would like to remind the media and the public that this is a time of extreme emotion for everyone in Prince George, but no one more than the families of those employees involved in the incident.

"While we understand the interest of the public to know the stories of the wonderful people who work for us, I would ask that the media please respect the privacy of the families of Al and Glen at this time," said Stewart.

Lakeland Mills Ltd., a member of the Sinclar Group of companies, entered a five-year agreement with the University of Northern BC this year to supply a bioenergy facility that is unique to Canada. The Prince George based mill will be supplying bark and sawdust to fuel a biomass gasification system that is being installed by Nexterra Systems Corp. of Vancouver.
